Attack of the Buns

Hey peeps,
You may be wondering what this post is about. It's not about hamburger buns (mmm), or even butt buns, (mmm, but in a different way. don't give me that look y'all know you like to ogle a nice pair of buns) it is essentially about my two brat bunnies. As you may or may not know I share my living space with two dwarf rabbits. My eldest Hoppers (also called Hophops) is a year and some change old. My youngest Socks (affectionately called the Brat) is topping seven months old. Both are males going through bunny puberty. This may sound not that dire to some but for those who have been near adolescent rabbits, (shakes head to self), they are a handful, two handfuls in fact. I've barely been home a couple of days and already I've got scratches and bite marks (my little one, man oh man does he bite hard) There's the digging in the carpet, the spraying, the chewing, the list just goes on. However there's also the love licks, the headbutts for attention, the excited begging over a treat, the invitation to play a game (yes rabbits do play games, mine so far favors follow the leader). Let me just say that you've never been humbled until you live with a rabbit. For a small prey animal, rabbits have a large attitude. They aren't like dogs or cats, you can not easily win over their affection. You must earn their respect, and earn it well. For in a rabbits mind, they will always be top dog. You may think that you are training them, but they are really training you. For example, it's summer vacation, I've been sleeping in a little more than I normally do (read: I haven't gotten up before eleven thirty this whole week). The rabbits normally eat around seven to ten. If after ten there is no food, they take to throwing their toys against the bars, alerting everyone within earshot that food has not been produced for them. Living with house bunnies is a constant learning experience. One I'm sure to write more about.
